The envelope was dark, but the one about the escaping Reindeer was fucking dark.

I didn't read in to what it meant being able to buy the Charlie Brown Christmas tree but the meaning certainly has been lost if you can buy it. This simple bland tree carries a lot of baggage with it.

The Calvin and Hobbes comic is incredibly poignant today too. These simple and innocent items from my youth have significant weight and meaning to them which deserves a round of applause for making them so timeless.

A silver lining indeed! Before this weekend we had received more back from the insurance company than we had put in to it, and they're about to pay out again.

As for the cap...yeeeeah, I lived without it for a year so I think I will throw it out. Keeping it around would tempt Kara and she's proven unreliable with items like this around the house.

Looking at the far right column, I can make out $1,915.80 in charges before it gets too blurry to read. But then about 3 lines later there's *clearly* another 3 digit number. And then if I'm not mistaken another about 6 lines down from that.

If nothing else, there's the silver lining that you're getting the moneys worth out of your insurance?

Oh, that and you got your cap back! Yay!

That movie came out in 1965, and spoke of the over-commercialization of Christmas. In fact, the tree itself was supposed to represent being willing to accept what you have and not desire more than what you need.

And now it's something you can buy.

I'm re-reading Calvin and Hobbes, and this strip was written and published in 1985. If only Watterson could have known what the Internet would do.

That's a bold statement, I am compulsive about clearing the driveway so that benefits non truck owners in the house.

You would drive OVER the snow. That's what trucks are for. And before you start with the whole "well, Jenna doesn't own a truck", I'll suggest "they who can't go over, can shovel".

For years we've talked about doing something in Christmas time but didn't make time for it and then it would get too late in the month to send anything out. To correct this wrong we started early to ensure they were done on time.

I do but how would that help? Would I strap the shovel blades to the front and then drive up and down the driveway?

    Wait, what? This is new.
