When I began thinking about a BEV charging at the lake was a significant worry of mine. Unable to install the 50A breaker, 8/3 wire and 50A receptacle beforehand this was an all or nothing trip. The receptacle was a bit rough but thankfully everything worked and the car was able to get enough of a charge to come home.

I don't mean to "reddit handyman" your work, but you should probably pin that cable to the wall and add the extra 2 screws to the faceplate.

Fair remarks. There is a staple beneath the receptacle box but it looks to be hidden by the black wire from the mobile charger. I left myself some wire under the box to move the receptacle in to place.

As for the additional screws...that's a part of the trouble I had with the box install. The 4" box sits too far back on the stud and the faceplate wouldn't sit flush. Then there were only two holes that lined up from the faceplate to the 4" box that I could screw in to.

The breaker and cabling went pretty well but the receptacle box is brutal. The breaker is off and on the next trip I'll be prepared to fix it up and mount it properly...but that will be a 2020 task.
