    I'm suddenly concerned that small things I did to increase stability of a poor design, are being adopted as best practices.

    Perhaps it's faulty design but how else would you get the wheel mount installed in a way so it doesn't hinder how you get in/out without angling the main pieces of wood?

    I thought the metal support was a good idea since an L bracket and screws weren't enough to hold it up. Now that I'm sitting in the cockpit I realize the wheel mount could be a bit higher, but for what it is I'm content with how it feels and everything feels sturdy.

    Rule of thumb, when you're in the seat, your arms should be straight out in front of you.
    Too high, the blood drains out of your hands and they get cold.
    Too low, the blood pools in your hands.. and it feels weird.
