While Dark was still airing it was announced that the creators, Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, were signed on to do another three season TV series with Netflix. Details were limited but I followed the development of 1899 closely.
The series released in November 2022 and in early January 2023 Netflix announced the series was cancelled. Not even two months later and the ship was sunk. There are fan campaigns and petitions to revive the show and maybe it'll end up on another network?
Even with knowing that the series may not have a conclusion we finished our season one watch this week and it's classic Friese/bo Odar. It's confusing at first, will equire multiple viewings to appreciate the details, probably has setup items that may not be realized until the end and ends on an epic cliffhanger.
